🚨Wildfire Risk and Fire Situation Update
Weather Conditions:
Environment Canada is forecasting high temperatures and dry conditions for several days. Today marks Day 1 of 4 of extreme heat. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be the hottest days.
Wildfire Situation:
There are currently 9 active wildfires in the province:
• 2 are out of control
• 7 are under control
Preventive Measures:
To support wildfire prevention efforts and reduce risks in forested areas:
• Fundy and Kouchibouguac National Parks have closed access to all trails.
• Campsites remain open in designated areas; however, all open fires are strictly prohibited.
Crown Land Restrictions:
The following activities are prohibited:
• Hiking
• Biking
• Camping (permitted only in designated campgrounds)
• Fishing
• Use of vehicles
Private landowners and businesses are strongly encouraged to adopt the same precautions.
Preparedness Level:
• The PEOC has been activated at Level 2 as of 1:00 p.m. on August 9, 2025.
• The Provincial Wildfire Coordination Centre has moved to Preparedness Level 3, indicating extreme fire risk.
Ensure you are prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in case of evacuation or shelter-in-place orders. Have a ready-to-use emergency kit available.
